About Skin Keloid Regression to Fibrosarcoma
Keloid Fibrosarcoma Regression
31 year old African American female with a history of a chest keloid previously
excised 3 times between the 2002 and 2003 without radiation treatment. Keloid
recurred all three times. At the time of first telephone consult on October 14,
2010, a picture of the keloid was sent (below)

On November 9, 2010, the day of surgery, keloid changed dramatically displaying
a deep red bulbous mass at the midsternal level. (pictured below)

Complete wide excision with negative margins, revealed an Adult Fibrosarcoma
grade 2 arising from a scar. The patient was also treated with post-operative
radiotherapy.

Skin Keloid Tests and Exams
Keloid diagnosis is made on
the basis of physical examination of the scar and surrounding skin. Obtaining a
skin biopsy may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis and reject a possibility
of other skin growths such as tumors. A keloid should be examined by a physician
or a surgeon to decide upon the optimal course of treatment.
